Yamaha R6 Bike Overview
It was built with a view to cater to the segment of younger bikers who are looking for performance without having to invest in a top of the line sports bike.
It features a traditional radial braking mechanism and perhaps is one of the more underrated bikes that have been produced by the company.
The engine map as well as the throttle were vastly improved in newer models which ensures better mid-range power and torque.
While the engine’s DOHC motor is perky, it offers ample flexibility in city traffic although the gearbox definitely could have been smoother. With an improved chassis, radial braking mechanism and upside-down forks, the handling is spot on.
The suspension is perfect and works well on a variety of surfaces with the facility to make adjustments as and when needed.
While there is reasonable legroom for the average rider anyone who is above average in height will find it a challenge to ride in a comfortable position. Another area that could have been improved was the rather low screen .
However, as with all Yamaha bikes, the bike’s quality is top notch and owners have to spend less money on maintenance, except for the mandatory servicing to be carried out periodically.
The bike comes equipped with radial brakes, ignition-based immobiliser and a shift light which is programmable.

It is a bit thirsty but it's not a daily so I don't mind the fuel cost. Parts aren't too bad either. The most expensive thing is insurance.
Amazing build quality, hasn't broken down yet. Gets quite hot quick and doesn't like being stuck at traffic lights.
The breaks work very well, rear break is a little faint after hard breaking but as expected after a good run.
