Your multi bike cover is charged at the premium of your highest rated motorbike, then any additional motorcycles you add to this policy are charged at a discounted rate. So having a multi-bike policy could possibly save you hundreds of pounds.

Therefore, having multiple bikes on one policy could help you reduce your combined bike insurance.

The logic behind this is often based on the fact that you can’t ride two bikes at the same time, therefore your ‘road risk’ is reduced on the second bike.

This is why you cannot add a second rider to a multi-bike policy, as then two people could be riding both bikes at the same time and your ‘road risk’ is increased.

However, this would not be reflected in the total insurance premium, which is much lower for the second bike.

In some circumstances multi bike insurance might not be the cheapest way to insure your multiple bikes, as we may have an insurer on our panel who offers better rates separately, so we will always look for the best method for you and your situation.

Unfortunately, with a traditional multi bike policy you can’t have additional riders; this is because the rationale for the cheap insurance is due to the fact that you can’t ride all of the bikes at the same time!

As a broker we have some insurers on our panel that don’t do multi-bike policies. If you want to add a bike and you are currently with an insurer that doesn’t allow them, we would have to cancel your policy and look at placing you with an insurer that does multi-bike insurance.

If you are already on a multi-bike policy, you can to call us at any point to add a bike or swap a bike, taking into account there may be a change in premiums depending on the bike you are adding / swapping. We may not be able to insure every bike if the terms don’t meet the insurers requirements, so try to speak to us before you make any changes and we can help you choose the best way to insure your bikes.
