One of the big hits of the past couple of years has been the Royal Enfield 650 twins – the Interceptor and Continental GT.

A combination of low price, good chassis, decent engine and sweet styling has put the Indian roadsters at the top of the naked bike sales charts, and Brit riders can’t get enough of them.

For 2021 then, the firm hasn’t had to do too much to keep the 650s in contention. The air-cooled 648cc eight-valve SOHC engine has been updated to the Euro5 emissions standards required from this year, while keeping its 47bhp peak power output.

Torque stays at 39ft lb too – so the firm has maintained full performance while meeting the emissions. That’s not something every bike firm can say in 2021…

On the cosmetics front, the Interceptor 650 is now available in two new single tone colourways – Canyon Red and Ventura Blue; two new dual tone colourways – Downtown Drag, and Sunset Strip and has a new updated version of the chrome tank finish in the Mark 2. The current Orange Crush and Baker Express colourways remain in the lineup for 2021.

The café-racer styled Continental GT 650, also gets five new paint schemes. Royal Enfield has reintroduced an old favourite – the classic Rocker Red single tone colourway – as well as a new British Racing Green, plus two new dual tone colourways: Dux Deluxe and Ventura Storm.

There’s also a new updated version of the chrome finish, called Mister Clean.
