Royal Enfield motorcycles “Made Like A Gun”

Royal Enfield has a rich history dating back 1893 when they were called the Enfield Manufacturing Company Ltd and made bicycles. As with many long-standing motorcycle manufacturers, Royal Enfield’s popularity grew around the World Wars, providing military motorcycles during the wars and a cost-effective mode of transport afterwards.

Royal Enfield’s production was moved to India in 1955 and started making the chopper-style Bullet; initially parts were imported from the UK but by 1962 all components were manufactured in India and the original company dissolved in 1971 with Enfield of India having the rights to use the Royal Enfield brand.

Royal Enfield models and the Bullet

Royal Enfield is the longest standing motorcycle company in the world and their flagship ‘Bullet’ motorcycle model is the longest standing production run of any motorcycle, since 1932!

It is known for its classic / chopper like style, a versatile machine with great handling and performance. Bullet models include the Bullet 350, Bullet Machismo 350, Bullet Machismo 500, Bullet Electra 5S and the Bullet Electra Twinspark.

Other models – retro street, café racer and cruiser

Royal Enfield Café Racer Continental GT – their lightest, fastest and more powerful model still in production

Royal Enfield Classic 350 & Royal Enfield Classic 500 – post-war style with a truly classic look with power and efficiency

Royal Enfield Classic Battle Green / Royal Enfield Classic Chrome / Royal Enfield Classic Desert Storm – classic bikes with defined styles to suit

Thunderbird 350 and 500 – 350cc and 500cc engines, these stylish models are powerful and full of modern features

Insuring your Royal Enfield Motorcycle with Devitt

There are plenty of ways for you to reduce the cost of your Royal Enfield insurance. If you’re cautious about locking your bike safely away  with an alarm or immobiliser this can help to lower costs. Keeping your bike locked indoors or in a garage over night will also work in your favour when it comes to us comparing insurance for you.

Another great way of saving money on your Royal Enfield insurance is by completing further training, this could be with either IAM, RoSPA or ERS. Having taken further training shows that you are a cautious and careful rider and this will work in your favour with some insurance companies, meaning you could save money on your Royal Enfield insurance.
