New aerodynamic bodywork, lighter wheel design, updated Euro5 engine and new electronics for 800cc supersport triple
With rumours rife about a rule changes in the World Supersport class to allow 800cc triples and 960cc twins, there may be more to this new 2022 MV Agusta F3 RR than just some new fairing panels. The Varese firm has just released all the info on the 2022 version of the 798cc supersport triple, and it looks extremely saucey.
The most obvious change is an all-new bodywork package, with integrated carbon fibre aerodynamic wings that produce a claimed 8kg of downforce at the front end, and an swoopy carbon front mudguard with integrated brake caliper ducting.
Underneath, the latest Euro5 update to the Agusta triple engine design incorporates new friction-reducing coatings on the valve gear and top-end, and still produces a beefy 147bhp@13,000rpm. A new rear wheel is seven per cent lighter thanks to a new production process, and the F3 RR now gets the same uprated electronics package as seen across the 2021-22 range: new Continental MK100 cornering ABS system, IMU-based traction control, new quickshifter design and a large 5.5” TFT LCD dashboard.
The frame has a new stiffer design around the swingarm pivot area, and the Marzocchi/Sachs suspension package has been tweaked to suit.
MV is also offering a race kit to go alongside the F3RR, which includes an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system with a racing ECU that boosts power to 155bhp, plus CNC levers, fuel cap, carbon silencer cover and a pillion seat cover.
Dry weight with the race kit is just 165kg – standard dry weight in road-going form is 173kg. UK prices are tba, but the Euro price starts from €21,900. More info: https://www.mvagusta.com/product/f3/rr
