Ducati Multistrada 1000 Review

Ducati Multistrada 1000 Overview

What happens when you put a sports bike, tourer and commuter bike together? You get the Ducati Multistrada 1000. The versatility of the 1000 is what makes it stand out from the rest. With the roomy features of a touring bike but the posture of a sportster.

It might not be one of the most attractive machines on the market but it quickly became Ducati’s fast selling machine in the first year of production in Europe. It’s still packed full of power with a 992cc capacity and 85bhp.

The first model was initially launched in 2003, however Ducati released numerous updates over the years that included a lot of focus on redesigning the seat, bigger engine and improved handling. The bike was left unchanged from 2008 to 2010 when the new Multistrada 1200 was announced.

Comfort
Not ridden with pillion but 1 up, so much easier on wrist and shoulders than previous sports bike.
Ride Quality
Smooth ride for a v twin and handling is superb. Feels very light on and off and packs a punch under acceleration. Sometimes a bit of a struggle keeping front wheels down.
Build Quality & Reliability
No problems to date (touch wood) Low mileage bike which doesn't appear to have seen much rain. Excellent condition for a 8 year old bike.
Engine Rating
Very quick. Loads of grunt and easy high speed cruising. Brakes are very shape. Possibly due to upgraded brakes as the S model
Brake Rating
Very sharp brakes, maybe due to being S model
Running Cost
Good on fuel but high price for insurance
Overall
Pros CommentsComfort, performance and looks. Ducati reliability possibly an issue but no problems as yet.
