What do I need to do when I take my van abroad?

If you are travelling within the EU your policy provides full policy cover for temporary trips – please ensure you take your insurance certificate and claim helpline telephone number with you on your travels.

How long is my van covered abroad?

Cover varies from insurer to insurer. Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614.

Where is my van covered abroad?

You are covered to drive your van within the EU.  Please contact us if you intend to use your van outside of the EU.

Which countries are classed as EU and associated countries?

Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, the Republic of Ireland, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino and the Vatican City, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Do I need to make you aware of any modifications I've made to my van?

Yes, modifications are not acceptable to all insurers, failure to do so could invalidate your insurance.

Do I need to advise you of claims / convictions if they relate to any other motor vehicle e.g. bike, car?

Yes, failure to do so could invalidate your insurance.

Do you offer short term/temporary van insurance?

No we don’t provide this cover, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Do you offer short term/temporary insurance for additional drivers to drive my van?

Yes we do, subject to underwriting criteria and an additional charge.  Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614.

Do you offer cover for me to drive other vans?

Unfortunately not.

Do you offer any driver van insurance?

Yes, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please check your certificate of motor insurance.

Do you offer multi-van and multi-driver policies combined?

No we don’t provide this cover for an individual, however we may be able to offer this cover to a business.  Please call us on 0345 604 3352.

Can a named driver use my van for commuting?

Commuting cover is usually only available to the policyholder.  It may be allowed for a named driver, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614.

Can I 'freeze' my van insurance?

No, we only offer the option to cancel if you no longer own or have the use of your van.

Do you offer laid up/off road cover?

Unfortunately not.

Can I upgrade my policy mid-term?

In some instances, although it varies from insurer to insurer. Please call us on 0344 225 1349.

Can I change from van to car insurance mid-term?

No, you will need to cancel and take out a new policy. Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614

Do you cover imported vans?

Yes we can, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614.

Do you cover food delivery?

No we don’t provide this cover, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Do you offer courier cover?

Yes we do, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614.

Do you cover for pleasure use?

Yes we do.

Does my van insurance cover me for business use?

Yes, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please check your certificate of motor insurance.

Will you cover the tools in my van?

No, tools are usually covered under goods in transit policy.

Can you issue insurance cover on a chassis number?

Yes we can, on a short-term basis only.  Please call us on freephone 0345 872 3614.

Do you offer an 'agreed value' policy?

Unfortunately not.

Do you do 6 wheel policies to cover my van and bike on the same policy?

No we don’t, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Am I able to use my no claim bonus if it is already being used on another policy?

No.  This can only be used on one policy at a time.

Can I protect my no claims bonus?

If I have had a fault claim but my no claim bonus was protected, do I have to disclose it?

Yes you do.

How long is my no claim bonus valid for?

You must use your no claims bonus within two years of expiry of your last policy.

Can I combine my no claim bonus from two different policies?

Unfortunately not.

Do you accept no claims discount earned outside of the UK?

Can I use my bike no claim bonus on a van policy?

Unfortunately not.

Can I use my car no claim bonus on a van policy?

Do I get a refund of my insurance premium if I sell my van, but have already paid in full?

Yes, you will be refunded for the months remaining, subject to a cancellation fee.

Does my van insurance cover me for windscreen damage?

Yes, but only if you are fully comprehensive and subject to an excess.

Do I have to disclose a windscreen claim?

Yes, but only if the incident was of a malicious nature.

Do I need to advise you of my change of address?
