BMW R nineT Pure Bike Overview
If you’re a fan of the original BMW R nineT but the price is too high, the R nineT Pure might just be for you. With the same flat two cylinder Boxer engine, this bike is a cheaper alternative, with cutbacks made in the price of the suspension, brakes, dash setup and wheels.
The bike is still reliable and well made, as you would expect from a BMW, with a steel tubular frame and cast Aluminium wheels. The Euro 4 compliant air cooled 1,170cc two cylinder Boxer engine is capable of producing an impressive 110bhp and torque of 6,000rpm.
If the classic roadster design is for you, you’ll love this machine. Like something out of the 1970’s, the retro looking bike is complete with a circular headlamp and a new telescopic fork.
This bike was designed for you to be creative and personalise, BMW have said that they made this design rather stripped down in order to be modified and equipped by the owner.
The BMW R nineT Pure a fairly high seat height of 805mm and has been described as both aggressive and fabulous, all for a price of £9,990.

BMW R nineT Pure Bike Insurance
The engine and power delivery. It pulls so strongly but incredibly smoothly for a twin.
I keep changing my mind on its looks - colour schemes, lower the bars more, lower the fairing. I'd change the exhaust for K-Speed black pipes, which makes the bike sound more like a throaty Norton. But the one stock thing I'd change is the silly weedy horn. A big bike like this needs a twin air horn.
The 'PURE' was BMWs invitation to bikers to take their wonderful retro inspired R9T and do their own customising. Which is what I have done! The R9T Pure was modified by a really helpful Authorised Main Dealer - and using my drawings - turned the bike into a comfy bike with a cafe racer vibe - akin to a 1980s muscle bike - which is from my era of biking when I was a lad. So I have a single seat that turns into a dual seat with a couple of simple bolt removals and the lowered Rizoma bars are not as extreme as the R9T Racer - which means I now lean forward but without the strain on my wrists. I also have an aftermarket German 3/4 Fairing - which means I can now cruise in comfort for at least two hours with no pain on my wrists and minimal stiffness in my back. Not bad for a 59 year old ;-)
Totally reliable. Excellent built quality. Feels like its hewn from granite.
Brakes are fine. The Pure doesn't have the quality of the more expensive 9T with the S1000RR forks and brakes but it really doesn't need them. This is not a street racer. It's a comfortable cruising bike that's great fun to ride.
It handles well as any R9T does due to the low centre of gravity and the horizontal twin boxer engine. At 219kg it's no lightweight but it carries its mass well. I am thinking of some slim aftermarket pipes to help lower the weight even further.
It's got just the right amount of power at 110 bhp but lots of good low down torque. Spot on.
Well BMW dealer costs are of course high but once the bike runs out of warranty, I can do some of this myself. It's frugal at 50+mpg and not too expensive to insure - but you have to soph around. Odd though that Insurers don't care that my bike has a Tracker fitted. They said it made no difference to the premium??
Stands out even without been upgraded
I would like to change the exhaust, mirrors and a small ferring.
I love the bike and anyone I speak to that has one says the same.
Not at all takes 18 litres and I can do in the region of 190 miles
Very good grip no issues with this at all.
