Moto Guzzi marks its 100th birthday next year, and its V7 cruiser is getting a bit of an overhaul as part of the celebrations.
The middleweight twin, with its evocative air-cooled engine, has been a big hit for the firm in recent years, riding the wave of retro cool and selling in big numbers.
Its mix of classic looks and unique Italian charm, plus satisfying performance and simple tech, hit the spot for loads of riders, especially women and new bikers.
So for 2021, the Mandello del Lario firm has given the V7 a new motor, based on the successful unit in the V85 TT retro adventure bike, which adds a healthy 13bhp and 13Nm to the power and torque figures – now up to 65bhp@6,800rpm and 73Nm@5,000rpm.
The transmission and rear wheel are bumped up in size to cope, with a new wider 150/70 back tyre and beefier final drive shaft, and new Kayaba rear shocks add more travel and refined comfort levels.
There’s also a choice of new wheels – cast aluminium rims as standard on the Stone version, and classic wire-spoked designs on the V7 Special.
Finally, there’s a new high-comfort stepped seat, redesigned footpegs, LED lighting and an all-new LCD dashboard on the Stone variant.
The Moto Guzzi V7 Stone is available in three satin-finish colour schemes: Nero Ruvido, Azzurro Ghiaccio and Arancione Rame, and the V7 Special, comes in Blu Formale or Grigio Casual.
