Biker Down! was originally started by Kent Fire and Rescue Service’s Fire Bike Team acting as a free first aid course for bikers. Since then it’s grown tremendously across the UK from West Yorkshire to London to Wales! Biker Down! Courses offer a great day of training for motorcyclists on what to do if you’re a witness to a motorcycle road traffic accident, covering everything from how to manage traffic to basic first aid and helmet removal.
Everything you need to know about Biker Down!
Biker Down! is a FREE one day course provided by local Fire and Police services. The course is split into three modules:
- Incident scene management
- Casualty care
- The science of being seen

Incident scene management
The course starts with a presentation from the team about what you should do if you’re the first to arrive on the scene of a motorcycle accident. It’s very common that motorcyclists ride in groups, that’s why taking the Biker Down! course could be very helpful.
Casualty care
The next stage is taught by qualified life support instructors that have motorcycle first aid-specific expertise, this includes;
- Trauma and mechanism of injury
- Snatch rescue
- Why when and how
- Basic life support
- CPR
- Managing spinal injuries
- Crash helmet removal – when and how
Rider Skills
The last part of the course is all about improving your riding skills, the Science of Being Seen and enhanced rider skills.
Once you’ve completed the course you’ll receive a certificate of attendance and a specially designed first-aid kit that fits neatly under your bike seat.
