How much is 125cc Insurance?
The cost of 125cc motorbike insurance can vary based on several factors, such as your location, riding experience, the make and model of your bike, and your driving history. At Devitt, we strive to offer our best price from the specialist insurers we work with, which will be based on the information you provide to us. Your premium will also be affected by the extent of cover you require and whether you choose to include additional covers for your own peace of mind.
What will affect my 125cc motorbike insurance premium?
You’ve made a good start by selecting a bike with a less powerful engine in a 125cc, it’s good to build your skills before moving up to the ‘big bikes’.
If you’re new to motorcycling your premium is likely to be affected simply because you will have no riding history behind you. As you continue to build up a no claims discount, providing there are no other factors affecting your premium you may see a lower offer over time.
There are a number of different things you can do to potentially help save money when insuring your 125cc.
One way to get offered a lower premium for your 125cc bike insurance is to use additional security systems such as chains, locks and anchors, along with keeping your bike in a secure location overnight, such as a shed, garage or behind a locked gate in your garden.
You can also look to take additional training courses, which may help you to improve your riding skills and may also help to lower your premium as some insurers offer discounts for reputable advanced training.

In the realm of motorcycles, CC stands for cubic centimetres, a unit of measurement that defines the engine’s displacement or the total volume inside the engine chamber. Specifically, 125cc signifies that the engine can hold 125 cubic centimetres of air and fuel mixture in its combustion chamber during each cycle. The size of the engine chamber directly impacts the bike’s performance, with larger CC values indicating more powerful engines. For 125cc motorcycles, this engine size strikes a balance between fuel efficiency and performance, making them a popular choice for beginners, commuters, and urban riders.

125cc motorbikes are an extremely popular choice in the UK because they’re accessible, reasonably cheap to run and they can be ridden without holding a full bike license.
Lots of the big manufacturers like Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda have invested time improving their 125cc machines in recent years, as well as smaller, up and coming manufacturers such as Mutt and Lexmoto.
You only need a CBT to ride on a 125cc machine (with L plates if you’re 17 and over), and as they’re more powerful than their 50cc counterparts, in our opinion they’re great for building your confidence and advancing your riding knowledge too. Don’t forget that your CBT only lasts two years so you’ll need to remember to re-take your test at the end of the two years or you might like to apply for your full motorcycle license.
