If you are a rider who wants to travel far and wide, on both paved and unpaved roads, then an adventure or adventure touring motorcycle is for you.

A type of machine with various engine displacements, an adventure vehicle provides long range touring capabilities and makes it possible to travel to virtually all destinations.

These motorcycles are also used competitively in extreme rally events, including the punishing Dakar Rally.

Adventure bikes are designed to handle long distances and rough terrain thanks to their specialised build.

While they may have different engine sizes, these vehicles typically share common features:

Heavy weight and large in size
Longer suspension of six or more inches
Increased fuel reserves of five to nine gallons
Side bags or panniers and a top case for storing luggage
Room for one or two passengers
