Fancy heading back to the 60s and reliving the excitement and carefree style of motorbike riding? If so, the Kawasaki W650 should be your next bike purchase with its nostalgic style and Bonneville-style exhausts.
It is a vintage motorcycle with modern accompaniments such as upgraded handling and engine so you get the nostalgic feeling without any of the old problems. The ride quality is pretty good because, even though it comes in at 195KG, the W650 feels very lightweight which allows you to have more control over it.
The brakes and suspension are quite basic but, on a 60’s throwback bike, it would look odd if they were incredibly sophisticated. Remember, this motorbike is designed for getting you from one point to another and for venturing on summer rides through smooth country lanes; this is backed up by its petite 500cc engine and 49hp. The W650 is not a sports bike so will not give you a thrilling ride, it will just give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
Even though this motorcycle doesn’t offer daredevil speeds, it does give an abundance of joy and there are minimal problems with it. The engine, because of its small dimensions, tends to last very well, however, if you don’t take care of the bike, especially the exterior, the chrome will become tainted and, if you are going in heavy on the corners, the paintwork will let the world know. If you’re buying second hand, don’t forget to check the chrome and the paintwork carefully before you buy.
