New graphics, DCT tweaks and extra kit for Honda’s classy range of big-bore adventure tourers

Honda’s Africa Twin deserves its spot at the top of the light-heavyweight adventure touring class. It’s a handsome, capable piece of kit for long-distance road work – load it up with the optional hard luggage, throw a pillion on the back and you can cross continents in style. It’s also much slimmer and less chunky than stuff like the behemoth-class BMW R1250 GS Adventure and Triumph 1200 Tigers of this world – so is good for in-town commuting and the like too.

But it’s also much more useful on the dirt than many of its peers – the 21” front wheel means you can fit proper off-road rubber, and if you have the skillz to handle the mass and power, the Africa Twin has the capability to go wherever you fancy away from the asphalt.

The AT range got a hefty upgrade a couple of years back, with a new 1100 engine, so it didn’t need too much for a 2022 update. The Adventure Sport model gets a new five-way adjustable screen that’s slightly shorter in the lower position, in place of the current fixed design. And the standard Africa Twin now comes with a rear luggage rack as standard.

Both models get tweaks to the optional DCT auto-box, for smoother changes at low speeds, and there are all-new graphics on both the standard and Adventure Sport version. No word on price as yet, but we wouldn’t expect any big price rises.
