New Chinese sportsbike is a little down on power, but light on the wallet
You’d have to go back a long way to find a 750cc-class inline-four superbike for less than £7k brand new. In fact, your time machine would need to take you 32 years into the past to match that, with a 1993 Suzuki GSX-R750 WP on an ‘L’ registration costing just £6,799. Imagine that.

In 2025, the world is very different though. And today’s sub-£7k 750 sportsbike comes from China, not Japan. It’s the QJMotor SRK800RR, which also competes in the current World Supersport championship, and looks very sharp indeed. It’s down on power compared with most other 750 sportsbikes, despite having a slightly larger 778cc capacity, and puts out just 94bhp, with 75Nm of torque.

As a comparison, the old 1993 Gixxer made 118bhp, and the last model of GSX-R750 sold in the UK made more like 148bhp – so the SRK800 is a fair bit shy. Even a current Honda CBR600RR makes 25bhp more than the QJMotor.
The engine seems to be based around a longer-stroke version of the Honda CB650R engine, with the same bore and similar layout. That means a pretty standard spec: 16-valve inline-four liquid-cooled DOHC unit, with a 67mm bore and 55.2mm stroke.

That’s quite a long stroke and narrow bore compared with conventional 750 superbike motors: the old 1993 GSX-R750 had a 70mm bore and 48.7mm stroke, an architecture which stuck right through to the last GSX-R750 variant in 2017 (indeed the original 1985 Gixxer had the same internal dimensions).
That long stroke motor, plus a rather low compression ratio of 11.6:1 (the typical modern sportsbike has a ratio nearer 14:1 these days…) and low peak revs all play their part in the moderate power output. As an aside, an 11.6:1 compression ratio would make the SRK800 a good candidate for a bolt-on turbo or supercharger upgrade kit without having to fit low-compression pistons, a spacer plate or machined head.

Whether the stock pistons, con-rods and valves would appreciate that remains an open question…
The 778cc motor lives in a fairly mundane steel frame, but it does come with decent-spec running gear. QJMotor has fitted fully adjustable Marzocchi suspension front and rear, with a cast aluminium swingarm, rear monoshock and USD front forks. Brakes are by Brembo, with dual 320mm front discs and radial-mount four-piston calipers, and the tyres are quality Pirelli fitments – albeit a curious choice of tyre model.

QJMotor’s fitted Angel GT sport-touring tyres rather than something a bit more sticky and sporty like the Pirelli Diablo range. The Angel is a good tyre though, and will work well for thousands of miles. All of that means the SRK800 RR is a bit chunky on the scales, at 214kg wet, which will give the motor plenty to shove around.
The SRK800 RR cockpit features a 5-inch colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity and tyre pressure monitoring, and also controls the three rider power modes (Standard, Sport, Rain) along with Cruise Control and Traction Control.

Add in a sleek full fairing with LED lighting, aerodynamic winglets, 16-litre fuel tank and a low 810mm seat height, and you have a pretty tempting package for the cash – even considering its modest stable of ponies.

The QJMotor SRK800 RR comes in red, black or silver colour options, and has a two-year manufacturer warranty. It’s imported into the UK by Moto73, an offshoot from the massive MotoGB distributor which also looks after Voge, Hero, Benelli, Benda, Keeway and many more brands. We’ll be looking to try one as soon as we can…
