Trike Insurance with Devitt

Prefer three wheels to two? Well, a trike can offer you the extra safety and stability you need as a rider without opting for four wheels. Trikes are classed as a three-wheeler with open chassis and handlebars, unlike the Reliant Robin, which is deemed as a three-wheeler car due to the closed chassis and steering wheel.

At Devitt, we can look to offer your insurance for your trike through our motorbike insurance policies. In order to ride a trike by law you are required to have a full car licence, however as we are motorcycle insurance specialist, we do require you to also have a full motorcycle licence.

You can choose from three different levels of cover for your trike, depending on what suits your needs: Comprehensive, third party fire and theft and third party only. The choice of cover you’re looking for may be influenced by how often you ride, what you use your trike for and other factors.

Getting your quote

To get a quote for your trike insurance we’ll need some basic information including; your full name, address, occupation and riding history. You also need to tell us about your No Claims Bonus and any convictions or accidents in the last five years. Not forgetting information about your trike including engine size, make and model.

Please remember to let us know if your factory-made trike has been modified in any way, as failure to disclose details about your trike may invalidate your insurance, should you need to make a claim.

Self-converted Trikes

If your trike is self-converted please be aware that we can only look to help you find cover for a trike powered by a motorcycle engine, and not a car engine. The trike can only have a maximum of three seats including the driver, you must have owned the trike for at least one year and if you’re looking for fully comprehensive insurance, our insurer partners will require a minimum of one year no claims bonus to be able to provide you with a quote.
