Ducati launches special SP Sport Production versions of its V-twin and V-four Panigale superbike and supersports models with lashings of carbon fibre, track-ready upgrades and super-cool styling

For most of us, a standard Ducati Panigale is more than trick enough – but the Bologna firm always likes to offer something a little extra. Like these two machines, unveiled at the Milan show: the Sport Production versions of the Panigale V2 and V4.

They’re both high-end limited edition versions of the S models, so already based on a pretty sweet package. The V4 SP produces 218bhp from the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale motor – this is sort of the bleeding edge these days for a road-going superbike, albeit on an 1100 rather than the 999cc inlin-four machinery from BMW and Honda.

There’s also a dry clutch fitted -this allows you to use the special low-friction racing Shell Ducati Corse oil that adds another few bhp – and you also have a Ducati Racing Gearbox setup, featuring the Neutral Lock system where neutral is positioned below first gear.

The chassis is uprated with carbon fibre wheels, and there’s the usual Öhlins semi-active suspension front and rear, while the brakes are Brembo’s Hypure calipers with special red finish and 330mm discs. Wet weight with no fuel is a svelte 188kg – nice.

The aerodynamics have had a thorough refresh too: the V4 SP gets a WorldSBK-homologated aerodynamic package, consisting of enlarged two-part wings and Corner Sidepods, first seen in MotoGP in 2021 and subsequently transferred to a production motorcycle with the Panigale V4 R. Add in the latest electronic riding aids, and a new 6.9” TFT dash, and you have a very saucy package – as it should be, priced at £38,195.

At half the number of cylinders – and around half the price – you can have another SP, this time the £19,295 V2 SP. This takes the latest 890cc V-twin powered supersport machine, and adds a selection of track-friendly upgrades that will help riders in the various supersport championships around the globe.

There’s a special 30mm longer swingarm, and Öhlins mechanical suspension front and rear, as well as forged aluminium wheels and the SP dry clutch setup. Peak power is around 120bhp, with 93.3Nm of peak torque, and the whole package weighs in at 176kg wet no fuel – a tempting track tool for sure, if you have the cash!
