Italian brand releases new classic-styled 125 scooter with modern tech, European design and Far-East production, get your first look at the 2026 Lambretta J125…
Cult brand Lambretta is one of the most famous classic scooter firms, with a name that comes from the Lambrate suburb of Milan, where it started out just after World War 2.
But the original Italian company behind the trendy urban machines went out of business in the early 1970s, and since then they’ve been made by a variety of other firms, mostly in India and the far east.
Now, the Lambretta name is imported into the UK by the MotoGB distribution firm – which also looks after a load of other names like Voge, Benelli, QJMotor, Hero, Benda, Keeway, Moto Morini, Morbidelli and more.
And MotoGB has just released details on this, the new J125 scooter. It’s a modern, economical design, made in Thailand, with a 124.6cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-valve DOHC engine making around 12.2hp and 11.5Nm of torque, driving the rear wheel through an automatic transmission and shaft final drive.
The chassis features the classic Lambretta double arm-link front suspension, paired with twin rear shock absorbers, which is said to give a great balance of ride comfort and stability. It’s pretty light at 139kg, and there’s plenty of high-tech rider assistance kit too.
The J125 comes as standard with ABS braking and disc brakes all round, Traction Control System (TCS), Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, full LED lighting, alloy wheels and an electric start. A 780mm seat height has been selected to provide accessibility for a broad range of riders, while the eight litre fuel tank should give a couple of hundred miles between refuelling stops.
It meets Euro 5+ emissions regs, and comes in grey, red, white or black finishes for just under £3,500. The J125 is a handsome machine too, with simple lines – it has classic Lambretta bodywork proportions – with contemporary detailing and modern componentry.

The Lambretta J125 is available now through authorised UK dealers with a recommended retail price of £3,499 plus On The Road (OTR) charges and is offered in Grey, Red, White and Black.
