Meet Alan: A Devitt Customer Story

Alan has been a valued Devitt customer for many years, and his journey with both motorcycling and insurance is one built on trust, reliability, and a true passion for riding.

Originally drawn to Devitt for its multi-bike policy offering, Alan found that what kept him loyal over the years was the combination of fair premiums and straightforward, no-quibble support. For him, the standout quality of being a Devitt customer is simple: reliability. It’s a sentiment reflected in how he describes his overall experience—reliable, supportive, and fair.

When asked what he would say to someone considering Devitt for their motorbike insurance, Alan’s answer is clear and enthusiastic: “Do it!”

Interestingly, Alan came to motorcycling later in life. At 49, inspired by his son who was keen to start riding, the pair completed their CBTs together on his son’s 16th birthday. What began as a shared milestone quickly grew into a lasting passion. Alan went on to pass his full licence, fulfilling a promise to ride together to the MotoGP at Donington in 2002. Since then, he has clocked up around 75,000 miles across various bikes.

Today, Alan owns a CCM R30 and a Honda Varadero, though he still reflects fondly on his dream bike—the Honda Blackbird—which he unfortunately lost following a crash while on holiday in Spain.

For Alan, the best part of being a biker is the thrill of riding twisty roads. One standout memory includes covering 450 miles on non-motorway French roads in just nine hours on a Suzuki Hayabusa—an experience that perfectly captures his love of the ride.

His favourite route? The N21 in France, praised for its fantastic driving experience and minimal traffic—ideal conditions for any passionate rider.

For those just starting their motorcycling journey, Alan offers simple but powerful advice:

“Don’t take your brain out—enjoy the ride and always look where you want to go. The bike will follow.”
