Why it's important to correctly insure your Quad Bike...

Quad bike is a deemed as a four-wheeled motorcycle, most opt to use quad bikes for off-road activities however there is the option to ride them on the road.

Most quad bikes are 50cc capacity, similar to a moped or scooter, however you cannot ride a quad on just a motorcycle licence.

To be able to drive a quad on the road you need to have a full car licence or a category B1 licence if it was issued before January 1997.

Although it is not law to wear a helmet when riding a quad bike, it is recommended for your own safety. However, in Northern Ireland you must wear a crash helmet by law.

If you plan to keep your quad just for off-road use then you will not need to worry about having a licence, insurance or registration plates.

You will then have to sign up to the off-road register scheme by the DVLA, this is help to improve detection of theft rates. All you need to do is fill in a short application form to tax and registration of a used motor vehicle (V5).

What information do I need to insure with my Quad Bike?
