Brendan O’Donnells

A fabulous Irish pub with plenty of charm, regular live music and a warm welcome. The Guinness is exceptional and the Irish hospitality second to none. Brendan O’Donnells is a busy vibrant pub in the centre of Douglas with a great crowd of locals and a strong interest in horse racing.

The pub may appear deceptively small from the outside, however, step inside and you will discover a spacious interior with a real quayside feel. Castle Arms

Quaint, cosy and full of charm from a bygone era. ‘The Glue Pot’ as it is far better known sits right on the harbour in Castletown and is literally a stone’s throw from Castle Rushen. The story goes that it was built in 1750 by a wealthy man for his daughter and since then the building has been many things before finally becoming the pub we know and love today.

The name ‘glue pot’ derives from when smugglers used to pop in for some light refreshment and find it difficult to leave and the name just stuck. This pub is a hot spot for the World Tin Bath Races, the Southern 100 and the Manx rally.

The Glue Pot boasts it’s the closest pub to any castle wall in the UK and the only pub to appear on a currently circulated bank note.

Cat With No Tail

The Cat With No Tail is a family-friendly pub where the atmosphere and bar staff are very welcoming. Whether you’re after good food in inviting surroundings or a place to catch up with friends, The Cat’s the place to come.

There’s a large beer garden with a children’s play area that enjoys breathtaking views of the hills. Inside threre’s a spacious bar, large lounge and a bright and airy conservatory.

The Cat With No Tail also ranks number three in the top cask ale pubs in the Isle of Man.

The Central is a small but cosy pub with a friendly group of locals. This is a great pub to watch the TT races from as you can’t get much closer to the course and all the action.

The Creek Inn

Situated on the Quayside, overlooking Peel Hill and the New Marina, The Creek Inn is open from 10am every day. With locally brewed Okell’s ales and up to 10 ever-changing guest beers available all year round, The Creek Inn is a Real Ale drinkers paradise, a Cask Marque pub and an active CAMRA supporter.

Excellent home-cooked pub food is served every day from 12pm up until 10pm from this family run establishment which has a traditional lounge. Local & UK bands play every weekend throughout the year and nightly during the TT & MGP in the separate bar area.

Crosby Hotel

The Crosby is a fabulous pub sitting right on the TT course. It serves extremely good food in a welcoming atmosphere and features a children’s play area.

This is a great community pub popular with families. A brilliant spot from where to watch the racing.

The Ginger Hall Hotel

The Ginger Hall is instantly recognizable by its colour. Inside the welcoming one room bar area, there is a real fire in colder months and an impressive beer engine dominating the bar. The beer engine dispenses Moorhouses and local Ales.

Each window has an impressive black and white picture of a TT bike rider and a large TT map on the ceiling too. As well as a popular restaurant that also does reasonably prices take away food, the Ginger Hall does accommodation some of which is en-suite.

Facilities: There is a public bar, where 3 cask ales and bar meals are available 7 days a week. The separate restaurant, serves traditional food and is also a great location for any private function. There is a child friendly beer garden and ample parking.

Manx Arms

The atmosphere at the Manx Arms is relaxed and inviting. The landlord and bar staff are extremely friendly and a warm welcome is guaranteed. This is the perfect place to while away an evening or an afternoon. There are three separate seating areas as well as some outside patio areas for those rare balmy summer evenings.

There is a complete mix of customers, ranging from 18 to 88, and always something going on. With pub games such as pool, darts and dominoes, live music most weekends, the occasional karaoke night as well as large screen TVs for the sports – there really is something for everyone.

This is a proper, busy and buzzing pub.

Mines Tavern

The Mines Tavern is a little Manx gem close by the Laxey tram station. There is an overwhelming feel of belonging when you enter this pub, like you want to snuggle in for the day and become part of the furniture. The food is good solid traditional pub fare and caters for all tastes.

From the quirky tram-shaped bar to the endearing traditional Manx touches dotted about, it really is a feast for the eyes. As you head out into the beer garden you are greeted by a variety of seating options, some of which are covered and heated and all of which have a great outlook as the tables gently spill into the station.

There is also a children’s play area so there really is something to keep every member of the family entertained. The Mines Tavern is highly recommended for a slice of Manx heritage, its quirky traditional feel and homely inviting welcome.

The Mitre

The Mitre in Kirk Michael is the oldest pub on the Island. It’s wonderfully quaint with a double helping of old-fashioned hospitality. Nothing seems too much trouble and you are made to feel very welcome. Inside there are open fires and stunning old beams and outside there is a fantastic beer garden with breathtaking views.

The Mitre serves delicious home cooked traditional meals all week (Mon-Sun) at lunch and teatime and a fabulous roast with all the trimmings on a Sunday lunchtime.

We love this pub for its olde worlde charm, great food and friendly atmosphere.

The Prospect

The Prospect is a real beer drinkers’ pub with up to eight different beers on offer each week. Located in the heart of the Island’s financial district, this pub is particularly popular with local office workers who regularly pop in for a quick pint at lunchtime.

To complement the great beer selection, there is an impressive and much talked about lunch and ever-changing ‘Specials’ board or for those looking for something a little lighter or a coffee.

The Prospect is Number Two in the top Cask Ale Pubs in the Isle of Man.

Quarterbridge Hotel

The Quarterbridge Hotel is something of an institution. Iconic for a number of reasons not least for its position on the TT course. It is a good traditional community pub and services a range of customers.

Popular with sports teams from the NSC next door as well as those living in the area. To be fair, the building has probably seen better days and is looking a bit frayed around the edges but to be honest it only adds to the charm.

The Railway

Dating from 1874 The Railway is the latest Heron and Brearley pub on North Quay to have been given a total interior makeover with a design that ingeniously bridges the gap between industrial and retro, with a side order of urban incorporated for good measure.

Expect a dramatic space where the mood is unashamedly contemporary, with exposed brickwork and a wealth of textured natural finishes, complemented by cleverly conceived lighting.

Raven Hotel

The Raven is a fabulous country pub with a load of character and an inviting welcome. There is lovely warm atmosphere and you really feel like you could settle in for the day quite happily. This is a fantastic pub to watch the TT races from, if you can’t get a good spot outside then there is a web-cam set on the bridge and linked to the television inside. Enjoy a pint of Ravens Claw (a beer brewed exclusively for this pub) in cosy surroundings and watch the action – what could be better?

The Sulby Glen

Located in one of the most beautiful and picturesque settings on the Island. The Sulby Glen Hotel & “Bistro” is a traditional country inn nestling at the foot of the beautiful Sulby Glen, offering uninterrupted views of mountains and glens.

The Swan is a family friendly pub with a well earned reputation for serving good home-cooked food. Recently refurbished, the surroundings are very inviting and the welcome is equally charming.

Popular for its evening entertainment which includes Live Music, Quiz Nights, Karaoke, Discos and Food Themed Nights.

It is definitely worth a visit whether you’re a Ramsey local or dropping in from further afield.

The Woodbourne

This pub has magnificent gothic features, and there are 3 bars including a fabulously quirky Gents Bar and a large pool room (used as a function room, holds 50 comfortably). Often used by Okells to test its latest bitters also specializing in ales from around the UK ( Eight Beer Engines all in use ).

You are guaranteed a truly delicious pint here. The Landlord and his team are very welcoming as are the locals.

The Woodbourne is the Number One Cask Ale Pub in the Isle of Man.
