Devitt's Free Insurance Giveaway On July's Ride-2-work Day

Romford, 19th June 2006 - Specialist motorcycle insurance broker, Devitt, is celebrating National Motorcycle Week which runs from 16th – 23rd July and Ride 2 Work Day on Wednesday 19th July, by giving a day's additional free insurance cover to thousands of bikers.

Ride 2 Work Day is the main event during National Motorcycle Week whereby both riders and non-riders are encouraged to travel to work on two-wheels.

However, Devitt has found that a significant percentage of its motorcycle-owning policyholders do not have motorcycle insurance that covers their journey to and from work. So the company has written to nearly 7,000 of its policyholders offering them free additional insurance for the day.

William Hughes, Managing Director for Devitt (at the time), explained that the aim is to give the company's policyholders a fantastic opportunity to introduce non-riding friends or work colleagues to two wheels. He said:

"Although many of our policyholders already ride to work, we want to ensure that everyone has the chance to show off the benefits of riding motorcycles and scooters."

Devitt also hopes that this promotion will serve to highlight the need for bikers to invest in adequate insurance cover.

"It would be a fantastic headline that says we are offering a million pounds worth of insurance, but the truth is that this giveaway really is minimal - that's the point."

"Motorcycle owners may be scared of declaring their commuting to their insurer because of the big price tag attached," he says.

"But the difference in premiums for including commuting are nothing compared to the real cost of having an accident without adequate cover," continued William.
