Mayor's Charity Gets Kickstart From Insurance Broker Devitt
Tuesday, 10 January 2006
Romford, January 10th 2006 – Romford based insurance broker Devitt has donated over £2,300 to the Mayor of Havering's chosen charity for 2006. The Mayor, Councillor John Mylod, collected a cheque for £2,371.60 from Devitt's Acting Managing Director William Hughes today for First Step, a charity that helps children with special needs and their families in the local community.
The money was raised from ticket sales of Devitt's staff winter ball, which takes place later this month.
Devitt's Managing Director (at the time) William Hughes said: "It's a pleasure to be able to help the Mayor's charity. Devitt has very strong links to this area so it's important for us to be able to do something for our local community."
Over 350 staff are employed by Devitt (part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group), specialists in motorcycle insurance. The company has over 200,000 customers in the UK.
