MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE CLAIMS:
Guide to making a claim
You
must report all claims by contacting the Motorcycle Insurance
Claims Helpline on 0800 015 7535, which operates
24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Expert motorcycle insurance claims handlers will be available to
take you through the process of making a claim. You will be offered
assistance and advice on recovery and how to proceed quickly and
efficiently with your claim.
When making a claim you will need to have the following to hand:
- Policy Number
- Police Crime Number (if necessary)
- Your full name and address details
- Details of any third parties involved
- Details of accident
- Witness information (if applicable)
Loss or Damage
If loss or damage to your motorcycle is covered under your insurance
policy and your motorcycle can safely be ridden, please return the
motorcycle to your home address before contacting the Helpline.
If your machine cannot be moved, contact the Claims Helpline and
arrangements for its collection and storage will be made.
Important
Collection and storage charges will not normally be reimbursed,
unless prior consent has been given.
Important Note:
Legal procedures now make it vital that you report any accident
at once. Strict time scales have been set for dealing with claims,
in particular those involving bodily injury. Heavy financial fines
may be imposed by the courts if these are not kept to. This may
affect your insurer’s ability to mount the best defence on
your behalf. Delay can involve your insurer in higher costs which
may go against your driving record. If the delay is extreme, they
may refuse to cover you.
