What do I need to do when I take my motorcycle abroad?

If you are travelling within the EU most of our policies provide you with full policy cover for any temporary trip not exceeding 90 days – please check your policy and ensure you take your insurance certificate and claim helpline telephone number with you on your travels.

For how long is my motorcycle covered abroad?

Most of our policies provide 90 days cover in any insurance year, however a few only provide 45 days. If you need 90 days, please state this when obtaining your quote.

Where is my motorcycle covered abroad?

You are covered to ride your motorcycle within the EU.  Please contact us if you intend to use your motorcycle outside of the EU.

Which countries are classed as EU and associated countries?

Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, the Republic of Ireland, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino and the Vatican City, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Do I need to make you aware of any modifications I decide to make to my motorcycle?

Yes, modifications are not acceptable to all insurers, failure to do so could invalidate your insurance.

Do I need to advise you of claims / convictions if they relate to any other motor vehicle e.g. car, van?

Yes, failure to do so could invalidate your insurance.

Do you offer short term/temporary bike insurance?

No we don’t provide this cover, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Do you offer short term/temporary insurance for additional riders to ride my bike?

Do you offer cover for me to ride other motorcycles?

Yes, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please check your certificate of motor insurance.

Do you offer multi-bike and multi-rider policies combined?

No we don’t provide this cover for an individual, however we may be able to offer this cover to a business.  Please call us on 0345 604 3352.

Can a named rider use my bike for commuting?

Commuting cover is usually only available to the policyholder.  It may be allowed for a named rider, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please call us on 0345 872 3614.

Can I ‘freeze’ my motorcycle insurance?

No, we only offer the option to cancel if you no longer own or have the use of your motorcycle.

Do you offer laid up/off road cover?

No we don’t provide this cover, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Can I upgrade my policy cover mid-term?

Can I change from bike to car/van insurance mid-term?

No, you will need to cancel and take out a new policy. Please call us on 0345 872 3614.

Do you cover imported scooters?

Yes we do, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please call us on 0345 872 3614.

Do you cover trikes?

Yes, subject to underwriting criteria.  Please call us on 0345 872 3614.

Do you cover mobility scooters?

No we don’t provide this cover, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Do you cover bicycles?

No, although you are often able to cover bicycles as an extension of a home contents insurance policy.

Do you cover quad bikes?

Do you cover for food delivery?

No we don’t provide this cover, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Do you offer courier cover?

Do you cover for blood running?

Can you issue cover on a chassis number?

Do you provide cover for me to take a CBT (Certificate of Basic Training)?

Do you cover for direct access?

Do you offer an ‘agreed value’ policy?

Do you do 6 wheel policies to cover my car and bike on the same policy?

No we don’t, although there are insurers in the market that do.

Am I able to use my no claim discount if it is already being used on another policy?

No, this can only be used on one policy at a time.

Can I protect my no claim bonus?

Yes you can, but you normally need to have earned a minimum of four years.

If I have had a fault claim but my no claim bonus was protected, do I have to disclose it?

Yes you do.

How long is my no claim bonus valid for?

You must use your no claims bonus within two years of expiry of your last policy.

Can I combine my no claim bonus from two different policies?

Unfortunately not.

Do you accept no claim discount earned outside of the UK?

Can I use my car/van no claim bonus on a bike policy?

Does my bike insurance cover me for business use?

Do I get a refund of my insurance premium if I sell my bike, but have already paid in full?

Yes, but this will depend on how long you’ve had your insurance policy, and will be subject to a cancellation fee.

Do I need to advise you of my change of address?
