Suzi Perry roars home as the UK’s no.1 dream pillion passenger... if the ‘Mrs’ isn’t free.

When it comes to wishful thinking, bikers set their sights far and wide. In a recent poll by motorcycle insurance specialist Devitt, motor sport aficionado and general boys toys babe Suzi Perry was voted as the No.1 fantasy pillion passenger, over and above current MotoGP World Champion, and Italian heartthrob, Valentino Rossi. In fact, Kylie Minogue came in behind Perry, beating Rossi who ranked third, suggesting that a love of bikes is more about pulling power than thrill seeking.

However, if the truth be known, 1 in 4 motorcyclists consider their partner to be their ideal passenger in the absence of any willing celebrity or holy man, whilst 13% would rather ride solo. Comments William Hughes, Managing Director of Devitt Insurance. “Riding a motorcycle is an exhilarating experience but it can be even better if you have someone to share it with. As part of our Keep Britain Biking campaign, we are urging bikers to encourage friends and family to hitch a ride with them and enjoy the thrill of the open road. Riding pillion is a great introduction to the joy of life on two wheels and many have got bitten by the biking bug as a result.”

Concludes William Hughes: “We have been pleasantly surprised by how many people chose their partner as their dream pillion passenger, even if some respondents did admit that their answer was influenced by their wife or husband looking over their shoulder. But whoever you have riding pillion on your bike, our advice would be to ride with care and consideration at all times, not just when carrying your dream passenger.”
