GIVEAWAY
TO CELEBRATE RIDE TO WORK DAY
Romford, 18th June 2007 – Specialist motorcycle
insurance broker, Devitt, is celebrating National Motorcycle Week
(15th – 22nd July) and Ride to Work Day on 18th July, by offering
free additional insurance cover to thousands of its customers.
Ride to Work Day aims to encourage riders to take up two-wheeled
transport as a method of commuting to and from work.
However, Devitt has found that many of its bike-owning policyholders
do not have motorcycle insurance cover for a journey to and from
their place of work. The company has therefore written to over 8,000
customers offering them free additional insurance cover for the
day.
William Hughes, Devitt’s Managing Director, explained: “We
want to encourage people to use their bikes for commuting and hopefully
spread the message to their non-riding friends or work colleagues
that two-wheels has major benefits over car travel when it comes
to negotiating traffic during peak hours.”
He added: “Although many of our customers already use their
bikes to get to work, we want to make it easier for more people
to take up this greener, congestion-beating transport option.”
Devitt also hopes that this initiative will highlight the need
for bikers to have appropriate insurance cover.
“We are keen to put across the message that the added cost
of declaring commuting to work to your insurer is minimal compared
with the risk of having an accident without adequate cover,”
continued Hughes.
Devitt customers, who wish to take advantage of the free insurance
