METZELER NATIONAL
SUPERSTOCK CUP 2007:
OULTON PARK, 5-7 MAY
Rain or Shine
The weather was against us all weekend. The bike felt much better
than it did at Silverstone in the dry, but we only had one dry session
all weekend! First qualifying was dry for the first four laps then
rained ... just as I was getting up to speed, and then second qualifying
was completely wet which meant that the times from the first session
stood. I was really fired up for the race and confident that in
dry conditions I could make up some ground.
Race day saw the rain come and go, on and off as it had been all
weekend. Just as we were about to go out on the sighting lap (which
at this point was dry) the clouds gathered overhead. The sighting
lap was dry, but on the warm-up lap it belted down. With everyone
on dry tyres, the organisers brought everyone into the pits to change
their tyres - at which point it stopped raining and the sun came
out! With the track still soaked we opted for full wets (front and
rear) which was great for the first five laps or so, but as the
track dried (which Oulton does very quickly) the tyres went off
and the guys with other (dry) combinations began to pick up the
pace.
Also, why not take a look at Ben
Taylor's official website.
