WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
It all started back in 1836 when Thomas Henry Devitt established
a name in the shipping industry and founded the famous Orient Line.
Following the success of Orient Line, subsequent generations of
the family moved into Marine Insurance.
In 1936, the Devitt name was established as a leading motorcycle
Insurance Broker, following the innovative idea to sell motorcycle
insurance via motorcycle dealers.
This unique scheme known as Devitt DA (DA stood for Dealer Association)
meant that customers could buy the motorcycle of their dreams and
ride off into the sunset that very day, secure in the knowledge
they were fully insured, a scheme that still operates successfully
now.
In 1993, Devitt launched its direct operation, enabling customers
to purchase insurance over the phone.
Devitt look after the insurance interests of over 115,000 customers
and in 2003 were bought by The
Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
Today, Devitt has over 175 employees that operate from our office
premises in Romford, Essex and Ipswich, Suffolk and our success
has allowed us to expand into other areas of Personal Lines insurance,
including car and home insurance.
Our aim is to become the 'most admired' insurance broker in the
UK, working with insurers to provide the best product offering to
our customers and striving to provide our customers with excellent
service through investment in technology and people.
